Putting the Muscle back into Classic Cars

1971 Dodge Phoenix

March 29, 2024

Otto purchased this 1971 Dodge Phoenix on EBay in April 2013 from Dubbo, who had purchased the car 8.5 years previously from the Gold Coast.   Otto had previously owned some of the smaller Chrysler cars like VG Coupe and VJ Charger but was looking for something a little more unique that he could still drive around a few times a week.  He set out looking for a 1968 Phoenix Hardtop but came across the 71 Dodge on EBay and liked what he saw.  Not only did the Phoenix have the bits that were on his must have list but also had some extras as well, mag wheels, tinted windows, air conditioning, disc brakes, power steering, a custom colour and the cherry on the cake being the big block under the hood.  As the car was registered in NSW it was required to pass annual inspections which left Otto hopeful for a painless transfer and registration in Victoria, unfortunately it failed miserably.   As he wanted the car on the road so that he could enjoy it sooner rather than later he contacted Shane who proceeded to fix the multitude of problems, the biggest being the rust in the roof, and get the car roadworthy and registered in time to be enjoyed over the summer.
