With the fitment of the triangulated 4 link rear end in the VH Valiant Charger it didn’t leave much room for the petrol tank. It was therefore decided to fit a custom tank in the boot
Fitting a petrol tank into the trunk of a car comes with it’s own set of requirements in Australia. Not only does the tank need roll over valves, the bolts and mountings of the tank need to meet VSB14 standards as well as the area where the petrol tank is located must be seperated from the passenger compartment.
In order to do this we made a custom Aluminium plate that sits behind the top section of the rear seat, completely sealing the boot from the main cabin
To get all of this working in this Chrysler we run an electric pump under the vehicle and have fitted custom made stainless steel lines to the motor and returning to the tank. That way ensuring that 750cfm Holley Carburettor is supplied with the correct pressure of fuel at all times.
