We often get stuck in the world of making power for our cars and forget that the car also needs to stop and turn as well.  At Valigrunt Performance, we always advise clients to build their braking and steering components before they upgrade the motor.  Classic cars were manufactured and engineered to handle motors of a limited horsepower, usually what was available for that year, and their braking and handling capabilities were built around these original horsepower figures.  To put it simply, the more powerful your motor is the better it needs to handle and the faster it needs to stop.

With this in mind, we opted to upgrade our Power Steering to a smaller, more modern Borgeson box from Pro Steer Down Under.  We have put these boxes into a lot of our client's cars and they have been nothing but happy with the result.  The Pro Steer Borgeson Box gave us an integral Power Steering Box that is about 2/3rds the weight of the original box and allot more compact.  This allowed space to accommodate headers etc…  Have a look at John’s explanation on Season 3, Episode 6 of Rides Down Under Workshop Wars, on 7Plus. https://7plus.com.au/rides-down-under-workshop-wars?episode-id=RIDU03-00...

To complement the new Power steering the front end was strengthened and powder coated by Dandenong Powder Coating as well as getting a new generation of fully adjustable front shock absorbers, this gave us the ability to control our ride from soft for on-road cruising to stiff for track racing. With all that Go under the bonnet, we needed some serious Whoa in the braking department.  It was decided to use Hopper Stoppers new 4 piston calliper front disc brakes and upgrade to a bigger front and rear disc brake set up.  Using Hopper Stoppers new generation of brakes allows us to have superior more modern stopping with easy to source Australian replacement parts.  Guaranteeing us a stop every single time, whether cruising on the streets or racing around the track.
