Putting the Muscle back into Classic Cars

Giving the Graveyard Cuda a PHAT rear end

April 25, 2024

There is no point in having a lot of power and torque in your motor if you can’t get that power to the ground.  This was definitely an issue for the Graveyard Cuda as she liked to spin those rear tyres.  Yet the wheel arch size was too small to fit a decent-sized rear tyre, the only way to combat this is to increase the Wheel arch size, or Mini tub the rear of the Baracuda.

We use a laser aligner to ensure that both sides of the tubs are 100% straight and mirrored, then they are cut out and strips are engineered to be fit in exactly to each side, having the Wheel arches spot welded back into position as they were from the factory so that the mini tub looks original.  With this process it allowed us to go from a rear tyre size of 275, 15 x 8.5 to 325, 15 x 10, with room to go to a size of 335, 15.12 for race days.  Allot more traction to get you down the racetrack faster.  You can check out the process on our clients VF Valiant Coupe on Episode 2, Season 3 of Rides Down Under Workshop Wars on 7Plus Catch up TV. https://7plus.com.au/rides-down-under-workshop-wars?episode-id=RIDU03-00...
