Stronger Transmission for the Graveyard Cuda

April 20, 2024

A problem with making a lot of torque and power from your motor is that it places allot of load on the rest of your driveline, with the Gearbox being the first in line for this added stress.

The Graveyard Cuda had a Chrysler 727 which had been heavily modified in order to handle the stress’ produced by the motor but it was beginning to struggle and on the verge of breaking.  With high amounts of torque running through them we have destroyed allot of Chrysler 727 transmissions, therefore it was decided to retro fit a modified GM box.

The Baracuda is also running a low set of differential gears, 4:10, it was decided that we would option up to a 4L60 4 speed Automatic with a  5500 Lock up stall converter and Trans Brake which was built and modified by RVO Performance.  RVO have identified the inherint failures in allot of transmissions and have made it their aim to remanufacture and strengthen the weak spots in transmissions, therefore allowing them to handle immense pressure and stress from high horsepower motors.  Check out some of the modifications done to the Baracuda box on Episode 9, Season 3 of Rides Down Under Workshop Wars on 7Plus Catch Up TV. https://7plus.com.au/rides-down-under-workshop-wars?episode-id=RIDU03-00...
